Stay At Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok If You Have Four Heads

ZY Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok

The wonderful thing about Bangkok is that one can stay in Bangkok without breaking the bank – in fact, there is no need to stay in a room with 10 other travellers a la hostel style, in order to save some bucks (unless you spent your entire fortune on airfare and only have enough left over for food).

Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok, being managed by a reputable brand as Sheraton, offers good service at a price point lower than that found in Singapore (don’t doubt me, I still enjoyed my stay at Four Points by Sheraton Singapore). Add on to its location near Asok BTS (Siam Station is just 4 stops away), it is one of the better options to stay in Bangkok. It is much like staying at Mode Sathorn Bangkok, but in the central shopping district.

First Impressions of Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok

Check-in was done at a roomy lobby, with 2 storey tall ceilings letting in ample sunlight, while we’re attended by well-trained staff fluent in English. The lobby was also where The Eatery was located, which is where you have your breakfast if you included that in your package.

The entire establishment comprised of 2 towers, with one called “Pool” while the other “Garden”. We got a room at the “Pool” wing, which was further from the reception.

Going up to the rooms required card access, which meant that there was a level of security added by the hotel management!

    Bedroom

Just how spacious was our room? Our Deluxe room came with 2 Queen beds. with ample space for uncountable suitcases opened up for packing and re-packing, and of course for flatlaying shopping loot.

The beds provided good sleep throughout the night, because without a good bed, it would be hard to sleep with your neighbours slamming the doors or plodding down the corridor like a chang (because soundproofing isn’t really top notch at old, refurbished hotels like Four Points. But luckily, the hotel is not by the main Sukhumvit Road, and in a quite area).

Each bed was stocked with four pillow. FOUR PILLOWS! I wonder how many heads Sheraton’s average guests have?

In between the beds was the beside table, where the light switches were found and of course, 2 power sockets and 2 USB charging ports are. Very convenient for those who need to “work on their phones” while lounging at the beds.

The rest of the bedroom was equipped with a couch, a working desk with chair and a TV console that ran the length of the room for that added storage space. The TV console ended with an ottoman for suitcases and a vertical cabinet where the bar fridge / coffee making facilities are found.

In the background, the window looked out to the crown of trees and buildings far away. A sofa/couch is just by the window, with a coffee table.

The wardrobe was right at the main door and that was where the ironing amenities, in-room safe, slippers and bathrobes were found. The entire length of the wardrobe was also stocked with ample hangers, because Bangkok tourists stay more than 1 night in the city and need to hang a lot of clothes!

Our room didn’t have a great view, neither were we looking into the windows of another building. Instead, we looked over the rooftops of some low-rise and had a great view of a children’s playground in the distance.

    Bathroom

The bathroom was as spacious as the bedroom, which was evident from their separation of shower and bathtub, although it meant that one has to trod across the bathroom after soaking in the bathtub to wash off the suds.

That being said, the shower cubicle was spacious enough so that I was not cleaning the walls with my elbows and butt. Fortunately (but unfortunately for me), the shower head was fixed and styled like a rain shower. The water oscillates between scorching hot and icy cold, which I couldn’t in my wildest imagination, rationalise why.

There was even a handle on the wall, because 4-headed guests will be too top-heavy and prone to slipping in the shower 😛 There was a recess in the wall for all toiletries a man would need during shower.

While I can’t say for women whether the shower area has enough space for her toiletries, I’m quite sure the vanity counter at the sink would. That was also where one could find hotel-supplied toiletries like dental kits, shower caps, body lotion/shower gel/shampoo, hair dryer and towels.

If you are one who needs towels for every head, be assured that I found 4 face towels, one for each head. Unfortunately, though, there were only 2 hooks in the bathroom – which was fine for a one-headed human being like me, because all I needed was 1 hook for my clothes and the other hook for my towel.

Four Points took open concept bathroom to the max, where the wall in between the bathtub and the bedroom could be opened via sliding doors. Theoretically, you could lie in the bathtub watching TV, or jump straight into the bed after soaking in the bathtub, suds and all.

I wasn’t bluffing when I said you could jump straight into bed from the bathtub…

Facilities in Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok

I went to Bangkok for shopping, so I only visited the pool briefly, since I was at the Pool wing.

Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok - Rooftop infinity pool overlooking the neighbourhood. Taken from the lounging area.

The whole rooftop of the tower was dedicated to a social area; the pool was ironically relegated to a small corner, with only about 5 sun decks’ length (though there were 2 sun decks). As Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok was a medium-rise building, the infinity pool looked over to walls of neighbouring buildings. Of course, the major downside of this was that suntanning was difficult as the sun was blocked out by the other buildings most of the time.

The remaining area of the rooftop was dedicated to a rooftop bar, lounging area, and a performing stage, which I assumed was for a live band. Therefore, be glad if you aren’t assigned a room at the top floor – you wouldn’t want a live band just above you, especially when the rooms’ soundproofing weren’t that good.

The gym was well equipped, with 2 stationery bikes, 2 treadmills, a weights machine, barbells set, yoga mats and exercise balls. The room was compact and might be a bit crowded in the morning. However, I liked that the ventilation was good and there was no mouldy smell like some hotel gyms had.

    The Eatery

The Eatery, like I mentioned, was where you have breakfasts at, if you had it included in the package. There was a variety of hot food options, from Thai food to Western style favourites (like sausages).

The Thai option was interesting, but not appealing to me as I didn’t fancy spicy food for breakfast. The Western option was OK, but if you have been travelling often, even that was not appealing.

Instead, I liked the hot noodles station, where I opted to have noodles with soup. The soup warmed the insides and the noodles plain enough to be filling, but not stimulating. It came with vegetables and chicken balls, very much like what you’d get from typical Thai stalls.

If those don’t appeal to you, there was also a fruits/salad/yogurt bar and a pastry bar, all of which served decent options. The most interesting find was a sushi bar – I mean, who expects to find sushi for breakfasts? But Four Points did offer them!

The bread/pastry weren’t that impressive, as apparent from the plain croissant (I usually use a plain croissant as a measure, since it was a standard in most breakfast spreads). Interestingly, their mini pancakes were thick and soft, which when doused in maple syrup, became a great enjoyment to have! The belgium waffle, though…

    Neighbourhood

The hotel’s main entrance opened out to Sukhumvit Soi 15, which leads to the main Sukhumvit Road with a 2-minute walk. From there, the nearest BTS station, Asok, is another 3-minutes’ walk away. Across the road, one could find a 7-11, good for night snack while walking back from Asok station after a day of shopping!

Alternatively, by walking through The Eatery, one can exit the hotel from its back door, which opened up to a small street, Sukhumvit Soi 15. From there, one could walk across to Sukhumvit Soi 19, where Jesse and Son was (because we were there to have our work clothes tailor made).

If not, by following Soi 15 towards the main road, you would come to Robinsons, housed in the building of The Westin Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok, where you could access the BTS station via escalators.

Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok - Pathway leading to the back door that opened to Sukhumvit Soi 15.

Side note, this is where the McDonald’s is, so you know where to get your hunger pangs fixed when all options fail.

Since we were in the central part of Bangkok, with plenty of night activities, the area around the hotel was rather alive till late. So it would be OK to stay out for late night shopping, without worrying about safety.

The hotel itself was well-manned and required card access to the guest rooms, which meant you won’t get weird people knocking on your doors at weird hours like I experienced at Aloft Munich Hauptbahnof!

    Parting Note

Unlike Grande Centre Point Terminal 21, there was no direct, sheltered access to the nearest BTS station, which was the only downside of this hotel. If the weather was good, it was actually a mere 5-minutes’ walk away from the BTS station.

If not, the room at Four Points by Sheraton, Bangkok was odour-free (think
Grande Centre Point Terminal 21, where I mentioned there was a weird curry smell that originated from the drain in the toilet), within walking distance (Mode Sathorn was many BTS stations away from Siam) without compromising on space and comfort.

What’s more, Four Points by Sheraton, Bangkok is under the biggest hotel group, which made accumulating loyalty points all the more easier!

I think we would be more than happy to stay here the next time we’re in Bangkok.
