Autumn Colours in Vancouver, Canada Under the Sun

    SiC Autumn Colours in Vancouver

Earlier last month, I posted the colours of Fall here in Vancouver, Canada, on a rare day of sunshine. Unbeknownst to us, the rain came for a week and we were presented with 2 weeks of wonderful sunny days. Though many trees were battered by the rain in the past week, many were resilient enough to show us their best colour of the year.

Here are some of the highlights of what I saw immediately after a shower.

The carpark opposite PNE offered us a splendid view of North Burnaby, Capitol Hill and the mountains of North Vancouver beyond.

There’s something magical about seeing the red and yellow crowns bathed in golden sunlight, against the blue sky.

The good thing about the rolling landscape of Vancouver is that, when you find a vantage point, which is on every other block, you can have a good view of the city over the rooftops of quaint houses.

Close friends of mine will know that I have a penchant for bare trees, though I prefer them solo. I doubt I will appreciate them come Winter, when every other tree will be bare!

Here’s a view of North Burnaby’s skyline, from East Vancouver. The alleys of Vancouver reminded me of rural Thailand (when I was in Battambang, Chiangrai), especially when I walk through them at night after work. The rugged road and skies crisscrossing with wires is a real throwback!

Though they lack the glamorous front of the houses along the main streets, these alleys are void of trees that lined the house facades. This is how I got the unblocked view of North Burnaby, even though I was deep in the residential neighbourhood of East Vancouver!

I’m not sure which comes first: the red or the yellow. When I took these pictures, the trees were mostly yellow. When I was on campus, red was the main colour.

Here are the colours of Vancouver, Canada in Autumn, as taken by Sing in Can. I would say they were the colours of early Fall; many trees have become bare since I took these pictures in early October!

I will post more photos taken this Fall, like the ones I took on my trip to Queen Elizabeth Park on the first sunny weekend after the wind storm swept through Lower Mainlands of British Columbia ( https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/2019/10/25/powerful-windstorm-metro-vancouver-video/). I was at work during that storm, so I missed the full blown storm (pun intended!).
