Eating at Kay Lee Roast Meat off Tai Seng MRT is more than a gastronomic experience. The shophouse off the main road sports a major throwback to the 70s, with high ceiling and tiled floors.

Their roast meat will throw your mind back to the good old days when nobody thinks being a skinny bag is a good thing.

Alternatively, ordering a bowl of its old school soup, like the Winter Melon Soup, will also help bring down that heatiness you accumulated over the CNY merrymaking.

Wonderful Bap Sang 원더풀밥상

My post on this wonderfully tasty Korean cuisine at Suntec City is one of the most popular on this blog. I think it’s a testimony of how widely loved this little restaurant behind K Mart is!

The Bibimbap is my go-to comfort food. If not, I would share their Korean Fried Chicken (Soy Sauce). Their Ginseng Chicken Soup with Rice will warm your heart on a rainy day.

Princess Terrace Penang Buffet

Among all the “international” buffet in Singapore, Princess Terrace stands out with its specialisation of Penang food. Everything we love about Peranakan food can be found in one place!

From main course like Prawn Noodles (Heh Mee) to side dishes like Satay, Kueh Pie Tee and Otak Otak, to desserts like Nonya Kueh (mini Ang Ku Kueh, anyone?), Tau Huey and Pulut Hitam (Orh Bee Beh), the restaurant simply threw me back to my childhood days unpolluted by chicken nuggets and french fries!

Of course, the service from the staff was so good, I remembered it till now and cared to mention it here. A well-rounded eating experience will definitely help cure the CNY hangover!

Crossroads Bar

Located inside Merchant Court, Crossroads Bar is a convenient hangout place for holiday hangover! I wouldn’t say the food was value-for-money (it’s located inside a high end hotel after all), but the ambience was terrific for a chillaxing good time!

They had big comfy sofas, which was not conducive for eating your Peranakan high tea, but is good for lounging and chatting with kakis.

The Courtyard at The Fullerton Hotel

I hate to say this, but one of the ways to overcome post-holiday blues is actually to spend good money on the “treatment”. The Courtyard’s high tea buffet not only serves great finger food paired with gourmet coffee and superior tea of your choice, but the ambience is also unparalleled.

One is surrounded by the old colonial style facade that is the old Post Office. When I was there, I was also treated to a soothing repertoire of harp performance. Enjoying high tea at The Courtyard at The Fullerton Hotel is an enjoyment for all senses!
