Food Review in 3 Minutes: Starbucks Festive Goodies

Have you tried Starbucks’ drinks and snacks for this year’s Halloween?

I tried to stay away from it, thinking I could live a minimalist, zen life… but I succumbed to the sweet treats at the last minute…!

In one seating, I ordered the Zombie Frappucino, “Peek-a-Boo” Lemon Drizzle Cake and “Let’s Hang Out” Almond Chocolate Cake… without reading what they were.

I mean, for the drinks, the other option was “Pumpkin Spice Latte”, which I thought would be around till Christmas (I thought this would actually be introduced a little later), so I chose the Zombie Frappucino for that red streaks around the whipped cream and cup. And then there were those cutie desserts… I mean, just look at the Peek-a-Boo and tell me no one wants to buy it!

The Frapuccino was full of sesame taste and none of the coffee; in fact, I was still sleepy after drinking the whole cup, so I assume there was literally zero caffeine in that cuppa. Good for those looking to satisfy that sweet craving 🙂

The Lemon Drizzle Cake was as sweet as it looked, with zaps of sourish lemon at every bite. Reminds me of the Lemon Tart I bought in Tokyo’s Henri Charpentier.

The Almond Cake was a mix of expectations. It was a chocolate sponge cake covered in hardened chocolate sauce that was mixed with almond and chocolate bits. Yes, except for the almond bits, the rest of the cake was chocolates. Even the fly residing on the cake.

The cake itself was dry, though the hardened shell reminded me of those ice creams that were coated with chocolate shells. Still, it was too sweet for me to finish by myself.

I assume the Halloween special goodies would only last till Halloween. So if you are tempted, you will have to go try them, fast!
